Senior yearbook portraits without the sitting fee

The classic mottled-backdrop senior portrait is an American tradition, and school photo packages run into the hundreds. 100xglow builds the same look from your selfies: soft studio light, formal head-and-shoulders framing, and your actual face.

Common questions

Does this look like a real school portrait?

That is the intent. Real portrait-day photos have a specific look: a flat two-light setup, everything in sharp focus, no vignette and a mottled canvas backdrop. We use a school-photographer camera setup rather than the shallow-focus portrait lens used elsewhere on the site.

Can I get the cap and gown?

Yes, one of the four setups is a graduation portrait with a traditional cap and gown. The others are the classic seated portrait, a formal dark-attire portrait, and a modern version on a blue-grey gradient.

Is this only for students?

No. People use it for throwback posts, for a portrait in a style they never got, and for gifts. There is no verification and no requirement to be at school.

Why does the backdrop look mottled?

Because real ones are. That painted canvas mottle is the single most recognisable thing about a school portrait, and leaving it out is what makes an imitation feel wrong without you being able to say why.
